Roof Deck and Sheathing Repair, explained.
The deck is the layer of boards or plywood that roofing is fastened to. When water soaks it, a tree punches through it or fire chars it, it loses strength and holds nails poorly. Roofing laid over a bad deck will fail, however good the shingles are.
We find soft, stained and broken sheathing, cut out what is unsound and install new sheathing fastened to solid framing, so the roof has a firm base again.
Signs you need this
- The roof feels soft or spongy underfoot
- Ceiling stains point to long-term leaks
- A tree or fire damaged part of the deck
- Nails are backing out of weak wood
